Samsung, LG pioneered in installing cryptocurrency wallets, but they need to invite as many DApps as possible to ensure more people use blockchain services.
Samsung has installed its blockchain Keystore and cryptocurrency wallet in its Galaxy S10 smartphones. The smartphone is also capable of linking DApps. However, there are a few DApps available on the smartphone.
LG also filed a patent application in the U.S. for its ThinQ Wallet where cryptocurrencies can be stored. It is expected to install its cryptocurrency wallet on its smartphones.
However, these giants are cautious in propagating the wider of blockchain-based cryptocurrencies as the South Korean government is quite negative on cryptocurrencies. The Seoul government regard cryptocurrencies as tools for money laundering, criminal financing, and tax evasion.
Due to the government’s tight control, Samsung and LG have so far distanced themselves from encouraging smartphone holders to use blockchain DApps and cryptocurrencies.
It may take time for South Korean companies to use blockchain services and cryptocurrency trading.
