North Korean hackers are reportedly seeking to steal cryptocurrencies at the personal computers by emailing hwp files.
Once you open the hwp files, the hackers are reportedly looking into your personal information, including IDs and passwords. The East Security Response Center said it detected many hacking attempts on the personal computers of the members of the major domestic cryptocurrency exchanges.
The center advised the investors, especially holders of Bitcoins, to pay special attention to the hacking attempts.
The center named the hackers as the Lazarus group which gets support from the North Korean government.
The Lazarus is notorious for its DDoS attack in 2009, hacking the U.S. Sony Pictures in 2014, hacking the central bank of Bangladesh in 2016 and spreading Ransomware in 2017.
The center has been in close contact with the Korea Internet Security Agency to help the people get protection from cyber hacking. It distributed vaccines to customers.
