Bitcoin outperformed gold in investment return this year.
For the first seven months of this year, investors got a return of about $110 while Bitcoin investors fetched $1,640, more than 10 times higher than gold.
For the past five years, investors keeping $1,000 worth of Bitcoins saw their investment skyrocket to $14,463. During the same period, gold investors enjoyed a return of $41. In view of the devaluation of the US dollar by 8 percent, gold investors sustained a loss.
Gold production has been increasing while Bitcoin production stood still. Many Bitcoin advocates expect investors to keep increasing the holding of Bitcoin in the future.
