Lawmaker Min Byung-doo of the governing Democratic Party proposed that South Korea adopt the German model in cryptocurrency business.
In a meeting with Alexander Hoptner of the Deutsche Borse Group and his delegation Friday, Min said South Korean should legalize cryptocurrency trading and adopt regulations on its trading.
He said the National Assembly should quickly enact a bill on cryptocurrency trading.
Hoptner told Min that initial coin offering (ICO) has substantial value for its global appeal to investors. It means anyone worldwide can invest in ICOs as long as ideas and prospects are good, and there are no limitations on investors, he told Min.
The Deutsche Borse Group is Germany’s second-largest stock exchange. Its subsidiary has opened the Bison, the platform for cryptocurrency trading. It is quite unusual for the stock exchange to deal in cryptocurrency trading through its subsidiary. The group was founded in 1860.
