South Korea’s three major telecom companies are to commercialize the blockchain-based digital certificate business.
They named the service as ‘initial.’ They will recruit other companies to join in the service. Currently, KT, SK Telecom, LG U+, Samsung Electronics, KEB-Hana Bank, Woori Bank, and Coscom are partners in the consortium called the initial DID Association.
BC Card, Hyundai Card, Shinhan Bank, and NH Bank plan to join the consortium.
The digital certificate project is part of the state projects the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet Security Agency have sponsored.
The service would enable customers to provide their digital certificates without printed documents.
