South Korea’s cryptocurrency exchange Upbit is moving to de-link its trading business with Bitrex.
It said it would no longer co-marketing Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether with Bixrex. From Oct.25, it would run Bitcoin, and Tether tradings independently from Bixrex. It closed the Ethereum trading market,
An Upbit spokesman said it revamped its trading platform tailored for investors placing orders in Korean currency,
It said it closed Ethereum trading because of low liquidity.
The revamping is an indication that it would sever partnership with Bitrex and do its own business,
Upbit’s severing ties with Bitrex is possibly to comply with the South Korean government’s rule on cross-border capital flow. Upbit is subject to the Korean regulatory control, while Bixrex is free from domestic law.
