Ground X confirmed the release date for Klip, a cryptocurrency wallet installed in KakaoTalk, as June 3. The official was quoted saying that Klip will be released tomorrow(June 3) and will be mounted in place of the clip teaser page in Kakaotalk’s ‘More tab’.
Klip choosed web-based connecting method instead of operating separate app. The app version Klip will be released separately in the future.
Unlike other existing cryptocurrency wallets, Klip supports NFT (Non-Funguble Token). NFT is a token which has an independent value. Cats from the Ethereum-based cat breeding game CryptoKitty are examples of typical NFT applications. NFT is expected to open a new way of online asset trading, proof of ownership, etc. in the future for it’s merits in digitalizing tangible items. Ground X said, “We will help customers easily experience NFT through Klip from the beginning.”
Whether or not cryptocurrencies as Bitcoin and Ethereum will be supported is “not planned” according to Ground X. As it is a wallet supported by Kakaotalk, their intention seems to be intensively fostering Clayton-based cryptocurrencies and DApps.
However, linkage with DApp cannot be found in the initial version of Klip. This is due to the necessity of discussions with their partners. “We don’t support DApp related services at this moment but we are planning to expand our services step by step.” Said an official of Ground X.
