South Korea’s cryptocurrency exchange Allstartbit has announced Wednesday that it would take legal actions against those posting libelous and false comments in online-chatting rooms such as Kakao Talk.
However, investors said they would file a countersuit against Allstarbit for freezing their accounts without any convincing reasons. The account freezing, which prevented investors from withdrawing their investment, is a crime of embezzlement, investors said.
As Allstarbit moved to file a libel suit, about 400 investors decided to shut down their Kakao Talk room Their shutdown came out of the concern that their comments might trigger liberal suits from the exchange.
It might take months, perhaps a
year, for Allstartbit and investors to settle their cross lawsuits.
Allstarbit said it would resume operation again from Wednesday. The police are investigating the exchange for its alleged arbitrary freezing of customer accounts.
