Korea’s largest telecom service provider KT has joined a competition in the BaaS cloud computing service market with Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM.

Baas is the abbreviation of the backend as a service. It is a cloud computing service model that works as the middleware enabling developers to connect their Web and mobile applications to cloud services.

It is a new model and has a limited number of available providers. It is also known as mobile backend as a service (MBaas).

The service enables companies to save money and shorten the period for developing blockchain platforms. KT BaaS also help companies install smart contracts even without blockchain developers.

KT said the service would undergo a test run before it is fully open to the public in March.
