Kakao has become South Korea’s first pioneer for blockchain services.
Its main net, which Kakao’s blockchain subsidiary Ground X unveiled Thursday, will change the way people lead life.
Blockchain has moved one step closer toward helping people appreciate the benefits of emerging technology.
About three decades ago, people had little idea over what the Internet would be for their lives. Now people cannot live without the interconnected Internet.
In the same way, people have so far little idea over what blockchain means for their lives, but Klaytn will change people’s perception.
Klaytn can gain access to 44 million South Koreans and foreigners. About 85 percent of South Koreans use Kakao messenger service.
Kakao has not said anything about cryptocurrency, but Kakao is likely to install cryptocurrency wallet on its public messenger service. This would popularize the cryptocurrency in South Korea.
Kakao has a long way in launching the blockchain main net due to the government’s tight ban on cryptocurrencies. It opened its office in Japan and started the service.
Once Kakao and Klaytn get combined, its influence would be unimaginable. A Kakao executive said Klaytn would change the way South Korean regulators have on cryptocurrencies.
