### Access Protocol Introduces Transferable Subscription Feature to Enhance User Experience
Access Protocol (ACS) has unveiled a new transferable subscription feature aimed at improving user experience. Moving forward, all new subscriptions generated through Access Protocol will be transferable.
Launched in 2022, Access Protocol is an on-chain subscription management platform designed to address the shortcomings of traditional subscription models. By allowing subscribers and creators to share the benefits previously monopolized by middlemen, the platform facilitates greater value distribution. Subscribers can stake ACS tokens in pools created by content creators to earn not only access to content but also staking rewards.
Previously, the lack of functionality such as subscription trading or gifting limited the utility of ACS tokens. Furthermore, users could not change the wallet initially used for subscription payments, leading to certain inconveniences. The V2 upgrade addresses these issues by incorporating a transferable subscription feature.
### Introduction of cNFTs for Enhanced Subscription Transferability
With the V2 upgrade, Access Protocol has introduced cNFTs (Conditional Non-Fungible Tokens) that enable subscriptions to be traded and transferred. This marks a shift from using personal wallets for subscription functions, instead attaching ACS token staking capabilities to NFTs. Whereas the original setup required direct staking of ACS tokens from personal wallets to creators’ pools, the new system links staking rewards to cNFTs.
Holders of these cNFTs can enjoy the same rewards as those directly staking ACS tokens. This update eliminates the need to purchase ACS tokens or stake them separately to buy a subscription. Users can now acquire subscriptions using Solana (SOL) or USDC. In addition to trading, gifting, and transferring are also supported.
Access Protocol stated, “There was a lack of awareness about subscription rights as personal assets in the existing subscription market. With the introduction of cNFTs, we aim to elevate individual property rights and revitalize the subscription economy.”
### Enhancing User Choice with Separable Subscription Structures
Currently, Access Protocol offers two types of transferable subscriptions: Redeemable Subscriptions and Forever Subscriptions. Redeemable Subscriptions are represented by blue cNFTs, while Forever Subscriptions are represented by black cNFTs. Users can view these cNFTs in their personal wallets.
Redeemable Subscription holders can reclaim the ACS tokens staked in their subscriptions. These subscriptions can be traded on secondary markets and exchanged for ACS tokens. Forever Subscriptions, however, involve burning the staked ACS tokens in circulation, making the tokens irretrievable upon purchase. These subscriptions can also be transferred and resold.
The subscription process is straightforward:
1. Access the Access Hub.
2. Select the desired creator.
3. Click ‘Subscribe’ on the creator’s page.
4. Enter the number of ACS tokens to stake and click ‘Continue.’
5. Approve the transaction.
For Forever Subscriptions, simply toggle ‘Lock Forever’ during the process. To add more ACS tokens to an existing subscription, visit the creator’s page, select ‘Manage subscription,’ and deposit additional tokens.
To cancel a Redeemable Subscription, navigate to the creator’s subscription management page, select the subscription, click ‘Withdraw,’ and then ‘Continue.’ The staked ACS tokens will be returned to the connected wallet.
### Daily ACS Rewards Now Stored in cNFTs
Previously, daily ACS token rewards were transferred to the wallet associated with the subscription. Following the update, daily ACS token rewards are now stored in the cNFT itself. This change allows subscribers to manage their daily staking rewards more flexibly. cNFTs containing unstaked ACS tokens can be transferred to other users.
Subscription holders can view details such as the subscribed creator, the number of staked ACS tokens, and the last reward claim date within the cNFT. Metadata updates for subscriptions are reflected in real-time on the Access Hub. To view subscription activities in a personal wallet, an on-chain transaction for the cNFT is required.
Additional cNFT information includes the subscription type, creator, staked ACS tokens, and claim dates. Because cNFTs integrate subscription functionality, burning a cNFT results in the loss of access to staked ACS tokens and subscription privileges. The Access Protocol team cautions users to avoid accidentally burning cNFTs in their wallets.
Alongside transferable subscriptions, the V2 upgrade also supports NFT trading, permanent subscriptions, and a referral system. Access Protocol is currently available on global exchanges such as Coinbase, Bybit, and KuCoin, and can be traded domestically on Upbit BTC Market and Bithumb KRW Market.
