# Zircuit Advances AI-Based Security in Layer 2 Networks
For the past 18 months, Zircuit has been at the forefront of research in rollup security tools, rollup compression, and cryptography. These efforts have earned multiple Layer 2 research grants from the Ethereum Foundation.
Zircuit utilizes AI security software to safeguard transactions on Layer 2. This software identifies and prevents malicious transactions from executing through a specialized transaction sequencer. The solution aims to protect users from both smart contract hacks and on-chain fraud.
The company’s proprietary bridge infrastructure is designed with security architecture to prioritize user protection. It offers an intuitive user interface that simplifies usage, enhances efficiency, and reduces costs.
Built entirely compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Zircuit’s zkEVM is based on Optimism Bedrock. It supports major wallets like MetaMask and Ethereum dApp development tools, enabling developers to deploy apps without learning new programming languages.
Blockmedia recently spoke with Martin Derka, co-founder and CTO of Zircuit, about Web3 and the recent launch of Zircuit’s mainnet Phase I.
## Inside Look with Zircuit’s Martin Derka
### Q: Can you give a brief introduction to Zircuit?
Martin: I’m Martin, the CTO and co-founder of Zircuit. We have developed a Layer 2 network with a focus on zero-knowledge (zk) operations and security.
### Q: Your AI-based transaction analysis sounds intriguing. How does this process work?
We use an AI engine to simulate transactions before they are included in the block. This engine helps us detect potential hacking attempts. By learning from past hacking incidents, the AI filters out malicious transactions to ensure a safer Web3 experience for users.
### Q: Some might criticize this transaction filtering system as centralized control. How do you address these concerns?
It’s a valid point. However, Zircuit offers users the option to transfer their assets back to Ethereum anytime they wish. We have various safeguards to minimize the risks of centralized control while ensuring that users can freely move their assets. We believe in balancing decentralization and stability to cater to different user preferences.
### Q: Skepticism toward Layer 2 projects has been growing. Why do you think Layer 2 is essential for the Ethereum ecosystem?
Layer 1 networks like Ethereum are incredibly stable but can be slow and challenging to upgrade. Layer 2 networks, however, can innovate more rapidly and offer faster transaction speeds. Features like Zircuit’s AI transaction analysis exemplify this potential. Through various Layer 2 innovations, we can enhance user experiences and provide more efficient services.
### Q: Any last words for our readers?
Web3 technology is essential for this world. Traditional financial systems are often limited to specific regions or countries, but blockchain technology expands this reach globally.
